How to setup mail account

VOOJU allows you to have create as many email accounts as you like.

When setting up your email software, you require the following parameters:

Recommended Email Setting (IMAP Email):

IOS/ Mac OSX : Apple Mail AutoConfig

POP3 settings (not recommended)

For Username, please use the full email address as the username.
For example, if your imap/pop email account is, please use "" as the username to connect to the Mail server.

Incoming mail setting
The steps to setup secure imap/pop3 depends on the email software that you are using. Please consult your email software's help section.
IMAP Port : 993
POP3 Port : 995

Outgoing mail setting
For SMTP (outgoing mail) setting, you must enable SMTP AUTH.
This is necessary for Vooju to authenticate that you are a Vooju customer before allowing you to use our mail server to send outgoing mails.

Troubleshooting Guide

If you encounter trouble sending or receiving emails, the first thing you should do is to ensure that your email client software is configured properly as advised above.

If you are sure that you have configured your email client software properly, then you would have no problems sending or receiving emails from Vooju's mail server. If you encounter errors, they are likely to be due to some form of failure to contact Vooju's mail server and that source of the problem is likely to be linked to your computer, your network, or Internet Service Provider's configuration. We attempt to list some of the common problems below.

Anti-Virus Software
If your antivirus solution includes an e-mail scanning feature, you may experience trouble with emails as such softwares works by intercepting the communications between your email client software and Vooju's mail server.

Antivirus software that has been known to cause this problem includes products by the following vendors:

  • Symantec (Norton)
  • McAfee
  • Trend Micro (PC-cillin)

    Firewall Software
    Firewall software works by blocking ports so if you have configured (or accidentally configured) your firewall software to block the ports needs to send/receive mails, then sending/receiving emails will fail.

    Configure your firewall software to grant access to the Internet for your email client software. In addition, make sure port 993 (for IMAP) and 995(if you use secure POP3) are open for your computer to contact Vooju's mail servers. Check with your system admin or software helpfiles on the procedures. Port 465/587 will be requires for outgoing SMTP Submission as well.

    Firewall software that has been known to cause this problem includes products by the following vendors:

  • Cisco
  • Sygate
  • Sonicwall
  • Freedom Security Zero Knowledge

    If your network uses a router, it may also be running a firewall software. Do check that the router firewall software is not causing problems.

    Blocking by ISP
    Some ISPs do not permit message routing through another SMTP server while you are connected to their network. This is commonly practised in places that provides free Internet access such as airports and cafes as such ISPs may be concerned with spammers using their network to send out SPAM emails. Such ISP will block your attempt to connect to port 25 of Vooju's mail server. In Microsoft Windows, you can check if you can connect to Vooju's mailserver port 587 by opening a command prompt (Click "Start" button->Run->type 'cmd') and type 'telnet 587'. If you get a connection refused or timeout, your outgoing port 587 is blocked.

    The safest way to get connected is to use Vooju's Webmail as a temporarily workaround to send/receive emails while connected to that particular ISP. Webmail listens on port 443 (SSL) so if your ISP allows you to view http and https websites, webmail will work for you.

    Alternatively you can modify the outgoing smtp port number to port 465 or 587. If the ISP does not block these ports, you can then send mails successfully.

    As yet another alternative, you ask your ISP if:
    a) They can allow you to send using port 465/587; or
    b) They have an official SMTP server that you can use to send emails. Problems may still occur if you have enabled secure IMAP/POP and/or SMTP and the ISP attempts to scan it at their backend but without success. If so, try disabling secure IMAP/POP and/or SMTP.

    If your problem is still not resolved, it may be related to other network problems such as MTU setting of your router (Some routers' MTU setting may be lower then normal and may not let packets larger than a certain size to pass through). It may also be because your email software is corrupted and may need a reinstall. These issues are unfortunately beyond Vooju's support scope.

    To troubleshoot if it is a network issue, you can connect your laptop or PC to another ISP and try. If the laptop or PC is able to connect properly via an alternative network, then there is something in your first network that is causing the problem.

    To troubleshoot if it is a laptop/PC problem, you should use another laptop/PC to test with the same email setup settings.
